Godolphin School

An autonomous boarding and day school for girls, Godolphin School was established in Salisbury, England, in 1726 and first welcomed students in 1784. Girls between the ages of 3 and 18 are taught at the institution.

Elizabeth Godolphin used some of her own funds and some of her husband Charles's inheritance to establish Godolphin School. She first started the school to educate eight young, orphaned ladies.

Since the Second World War, the school has undergone renovations that have included the construction of a new library building, several new boarding houses, a science and technology block, a prep school, a performing arts center, an indoor pool with a fitness area, a new boarding house, and a Sixth Form Centre.

Programs in Godolphin School

The school uses a systematic program of assessment, analysis, and monitoring to keep track of each girl's growth. The data collected from the examinations also enables us to appropriately inform parents and assess the quality of the instruction at Godolphin School.

The Creative Curriculum at Godolphin School Pre-Prep is focused on motivating eager, inquisitive, and self-driven learners. Children may completely engage in their learning and create connections between subjects, topics, and themes thanks to the half-term topics. The kids will be questioned about their hobbies and what they want to learn about as the year goes on. Because of this, the curriculum may be tailored by the teachers to the interests of the students, ensuring that no two Pre-Prep periods are ever the same. Individual learning notebooks that children can take home during the holidays to complete before returning to school for the following half-term will be used to record their progress in learning.

Three engaging stages will make up the Creative Curriculum. The kids will be intrigued by The Stunning Start and want to learn more. Godolphin School's Marvelous Middle will maintain interest in the subject throughout the term, and the Fabulous Finish will bring the subject to a successful conclusion and typically involve asking you to discuss your daughter's accomplishments.

Pre-Prep parents are given a weekly report on the material studied in class and suggestions for home exercises.

The senior curriculum combines traditional and modern courses and is structured around age, aptitude, and ability to help us develop personal talent and achieve potential. There are high standards. Godolphin School works closely with the girls to establish attainable, quantifiable goals and expects them to be accountable for their own work, actively engage in class, and take advantage of the variety of intellectual challenges available to them. Strong pastoral care is provided by the committed personnel at Godolphin School so that students feel secure and inspired to perform their best academically.

The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) courses of study last two years. They support the growth of analytical and practical abilities, improved comprehension, and knowledge application.

Few third-year students are certain of their career goals when they are 16, 18, or 21. Therefore, it's crucial to maintain a balanced study schedule that provides each student with a solid, all-encompassing education through age 16 and guarantees the greatest number of options for the future. In light of this, Godolphin School's primary GCSE program contains a required core curriculum.

The majority of students then select three "option" subjects. One of these could be a humanities subject, such as Classical Civilization, Geography, History, or Religious Studies, and the other could be a creative or practical subject, such as Art & Design, Design Technology, Food Technology, Drama, or Music, in order to maintain the broadest possible education. Godolphin School offers statistics and computer science to students interested in STEM. Additionally, all students participate in physical education (PE) and a program of personal, health, social, civics, economic, and religious education (PHSCEE). Latin is offered as an option within the timetable, and GCSE Ancient Greek is also an optional extra that may be taken during session time to improve academic challenge. Exercise Education GCSE is also offered during class hours to add another perspective to the curriculum.

Within this framework, there is room for negotiation, and each person's final program should take her own talents and interests into consideration.

With a broad selection of A-level, BTEC, and Pre-U courses available, Godolphin School can assist students in selecting the ideal combination of topics to prepare them for a particular degree program or to provide them choices for the future. The majority of pupils take three subjects in the Upper Sixth and a fourth in the Lower Sixth. Several people also pursue Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ). In order to provide students with individualized advice and support and tight working connections with subject teachers, sixth form teaching groups are maintained small. Personal Tutors and the Head of Sixth Form collaborate closely to track each student's development and ensure they reach their full potential. The EGA is a one-of-a-kind program that all students must complete during their Sixth Form years. It gives you the abilities, advantages, and experiences you need to succeed in college and at employment. While strengthening your dedication to neighborhood and school projects, you also build your emotional intelligence and general wellbeing. This is an opportunity for you to align your personal and professional goals while engaging in significant opportunities. You can customize the schedule to meet your needs by choosing from a wide selection of courses, sessions, and activities.

Godolphin School has created the curriculum structure so that Godolphin School, within a "five and a half term teaching" approach, can customize the program to suit each individual. Godolphin School's curriculum consists of a Core Programme and an Option Programme, providing both academic depth and breadth. You will all complete the Core Program before "picking and choosing" from the Options Program what suits you. You can select the collection of options that are best for you thanks to this versatility. The timetable is designed on your preferences, allowing us to give a unique and personalized program rather than being limited by fixed blocking.

You will be able to choose to study for an additional topic or subjects from the Options Programme in addition to your Sixth Form subjects, subject to any timetabling restrictions, which will provide further academic enrichment. This could involve completing an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), continuing your math education with "Further Mathematics," earning an additional GCSE, or earning the Leiths diploma.

How should you select the subjects for your sixth form? Start by considering your interests, skills, and any potential degree or job alternatives you might want to take into consideration. This prospectus offers suggestions for acceptable pairings, but you should always talk over your choices with a staff member. At this point, it is absolutely OK to have little or no knowledge of the latter two criteria, but you must avoid closing any doors when choosing your Sixth Form studies.
