At Bruton, Somerset, England, there is a private secondary day and boarding school called King's Bruton that is fully coed and follows the tradition of English public schools. Richard FitzJames established it in 1519, and some 30 years later, under the reign of Edward VI, it was given the status of a royal foundation. The Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference accepts it as a member institution.
Prior to King's Bruton becoming fully co-ed in the late 1990s, girls have been enrolled in the school's sixth form since the 1960s. There are six houses in total: Wellesley, Priory, and Arion for the girls, and New, Blackford, and Lyon for the males.

With 24 A Level options available, people are free to choose their path forward and follow their hobbies. If BTECs are the best option, the Sixth Form can provide this path, offering 3 topics that can be coupled with A Levels to build a strong portfolio for applying to universities and careers. Although students have the freedom to pick their studies, the Head of Sixth Form, topic specialists, experienced teachers, and housemasters and housemistresses provide them with competent guidance. Most students who are entering the sixth form will select a curriculum of four topics, one of which will typically be discarded after the L6th Form year.
Academic study extends beyond the straightforward selection of A Level and BTEC subjects in the King's Bruton Sixth Form. Students in the L6th Form will have the option to finish an Extended Project while researching a topic of interest to them. The emphasis of this project is on the independent research it requires, which provides a taste for university study and could result in a 5000 word essay or the fabrication of an artifact. As students move through the school, their opportunities for participating in sports expand. Rugby, hockey, cricket, tennis, and athletics are the prominent male sports. Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Tennis, and Athletics are the principal sports for female athletes. Also, either during the sports afternoon or as part of the activities schedule, students can participate in Badminton, Cross-Country, Basketball, Volleyball, Rounders, Football, Golf, Handball, Equestrian Sports, Cycling, and Yoga.
