The National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin was founded in 1975, welcomed its first students in 1980, and was statutorily granted university status in September 1989, together with the NIHE Limerick, which is now the University of Limerick.

The entire team of the Clubs and Socs Office is available to assist you with running your club or society, establishing a new one, planning a trip, training your committees, and ensuring the efficient operation of each club and soc. A subcommittee of the Office of Student Life (OSL), the Club Life Committee (CLC) is responsible for overseeing, supporting, and educating all groups.

The Club Life Committee is what? The CLC seeks to annually promote and enhance the clubs at Dublin City University. The committee, composed of students with assistance from the Clubs and Socs staff, authorizes Club budgets, ensuring that they do not go over budget. The university also assists in promoting Dublin City University clubs to other students and members of the community at large. Most significantly, the CLC assists Club committees in managing the day-to-day operations of their Club. Each committee member represents a specific number of Clubs, and any problems arising from these Clubs are brought up for discussion at the weekly sessions.
