Ampleforth College believes that by providing the broadest curriculum possible in Year 9, students will be best equipped to make informed decisions regarding their GCSE and Sixth Form options (A level and BTEC). The college provides Ancient Greek in addition to Latin, which encourages students to try a new MFL. For international students, English as an Additional Language (EAL) is provided as a supplement to English. The Ampleforth student who has excelled in school and plans to study a business-related degree course at University is awarded the JCB business prize.
A paid internship at JCB for up to three months at a time, as desired by the winner, throughout their gap year. When taking a summer vacation, the dates must fall between July and September, inclusive, and include a three-week pay break in line with JCB's break schedule.
Sponsorship at the university for the duration of the business degree (about £1,500 year), plus a portion of the education costs reimbursed after graduation in accordance with the existing undergraduate program, subject to the following requirements:
- Take JCB summer internships every year.
- Obtain an automatic assessment center opportunity and position on the highly sought-after JCB Undergraduate Year in Industry.
- Receive an offer for a position as a long-term worker and come back to JCB within six months of earning the degree.
School Life in Ampleforth College
