To learn, young people must all feel secure, welcomed, and respected. This includes acknowledging and appreciating the home language and cultural heritage of young people who are learning English as a second language. The bilingual students at Aurora Eccles School are aware of this advantage. It adopts a whole-school strategy that includes targeted English instruction, anti-racism education, and increasing language awareness. The school will make sure that instructors keep track of and evaluate each student's development over the course of a year.

All kids and teenagers at Aurora Eccles School are entitled to RSE as a part of their education. It is lifelong learning about diversity, individual identity, healthy, safe relationships, sexuality, and the development of the body, the mind, and the emotions. Each person's sense of identity, self-worth, and confidence are developed, and it promotes relationships based on mutual respect and compassion for others. RSE entails both information exchange and the investigation of problems and principles. RSE does not advocate for sexual behavior. Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, who are more susceptible to abuse and exploitation, are protected in large part by clear, relevant, and inclusive RSE. Additionally, it supports and emphasizes other crucial delivery strands, such as e-safety, bullying prevention, and equality and diversity.

The curriculum of Aurora Eccles School aims to offer a broad and balanced education to children who have a variety of special educational needs and disabilities. It heavily draws from the National Curriculum for England and Wales. It also includes chances for personal and social growth.

Before being admitted, students who attend the school typically have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and have had substantial support in mainstream schools or have been out of school for a while. Therefore, the goal is to offer a curriculum that fosters learning, helps students make connections between knowledge and experiences, and does so through a holistic approach firstly based on their EHCP as well as their levels of attainment and skills at arrival to the school.

Social and communication issues, mild to moderate learning issues, autism, speech, language, and communication issues, specialized learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues are among the variety of special educational needs and impairments. This means that Aurora Eccles School will adapt the curriculum specifically for each student in order to accommodate their requirements and impairments.

The school's overall goal is to provide student experiences that closely resemble the National Curriculum. Aurora Eccles School, however, has also expanded the curriculum by including a number of more specialized, stimulating disciplines to fulfill the children' more specific or collective requirements. The curriculum also aims to make sure that by the time students depart, they are more secure and less vulnerable and that their vulnerabilities are minimized. To do this, the curriculum must be comprehensive, well-balanced, and well-planned, with a special emphasis on safeguarding, which is encouraged through SMSC/PSHRE opportunities in order to raise individual awareness and help future wise decision-making. The curriculum of Aurora Eccles School is designed to help all students develop their independence as much as possible and help them achieve the highest levels of academic success. As a result, the school wants its students to consider themselves as capable learners with a positive attitude. In order to accomplish this, Aurora Eccles School provides a variety of externally approved programs and courses to all pupils based on their aptitudes and academic levels, such as the THRIVE method and ASDAN courses. In accordance with the established EHCP needs, provisions, and outcomes for the pupils, Aurora Eccles School also provides treatments and personalized support programs (i.e. specialist support). The therapy team also provides all students with focused and comprehensive support for the growth of social communication and emotional control skills.

The school offers a broad, balanced curriculum that includes a variety of linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human, social, physical, aesthetic, and creative aspects appropriate to their age, aptitude, and stage of development. All students receive a full-time supervised education through this curriculum.

The social, moral, spiritual, and cultural curriculum at Aurora Eccles School is crucial to the personal growth and comprehension of the world around them because it is frequently the case that children in special education are more vulnerable. This means that the PSHE, RE, and Citizenship and British Values curricula will explore SMSC topics like equality, relationships and sex education, the prevention of exploitation or radicalization, and the promotion of safeguarding and protection at an individual and collective level through visits, celebrations, awareness days, and guest speakers.

There are enrichment classes available in gardening, multimedia, DT, and cooking. Students can also access OWLs and swimming as part of their weekly non-statutory curriculum. In addition to achieving their intended goals, these courses support the particular requirements of the students by lowering anxiety, enhancing social communication abilities, increasing levels of engagement, and offering chances to pursue personal interests.

According to their skills and levels of achievement, Key Stage 4 students, including those in the nurturing classes, will have access to a variety of externally recognized courses. Students will study courses at the GCSE through a variety of alternatives and as a regular part of the curriculum. This comprises courses in history, geography, arithmetic, science, and English. Accreditation in the ASDAN, AQA Unit Prizes, and a variety of other stand-alone awards, such as life skills challenges, is possible for students. In the QCF, students can receive certificates from pre-entry level up to L2. Where functional skills certifications are the best option, Aurora Eccles School offers them.
