King Edward VI and Nicholas Ridley, Bishop of London and Westminster, established King Edward's Witley, an independent coed boarding and day school, in 1553. The School moved to its current location in 1867 and is now situated in the Surrey village of Wormley (near Witley). In 1952, the school completely integrated co-education. King Edward's Witley joins the select group of independent schools in the UK that offer the IB Diploma Program in place of A-Levels in the sixth form as of September 2010. In September 2015, the school reinstated A-levels as a part of the curriculum.

Whatever their hobbies and ambitions, every student at King Edward's Witley has the opportunity to find their strengths and flourish. The curriculum at King Edward's Witley is comprehensive and well-balanced, with a focus on the needs of the individual learner. The focus is on coaching, assisting students in becoming more responsible for their own academic development as they advance through the school. This subsequently creates beneficial study habits for the sixth form. All students take part in extracurricular activities and field trips that expand and add interest to the curriculum.

At King Edward's Witley, students engage in a variety of sports, learn to collaborate in music, art, and drama, and discover new hobbies through clubs and societies like beekeeping, strategy gaming, and archery.

All of the academic staff members are subject experts dedicated to motivating and exciting students in every lesson. Academic tutors for each student meet weekly and provide regular feedback to both students and parents. Regular progress grades and written reports are accessible to parents via the Firefly parent site. Each year the group holds a session with parents and teachers. When further meetings with parents are necessary, teachers and house staff are always willing to set them up.

King Edward's Witley is dedicated to providing both boys and girls with the chance to experience a wide choice of topics in first and second form so they can discover their interests and skills.

Although studies go much beyond the National Curriculum, they are organized around it. In order to give students the foundation they need for their GCSEs, Sixth Form, and beyond, the basic subjects of math, science, and English make up a sizable percentage of the instruction.

The three humanities—History, Geography, and Religious Education—as well as two to three modern languages—French, German, and/or Spanish, and Latin—are offered to students in addition to the basic courses. In order to give all students a solid foundation in the myths, concepts, and events that have shaped and continue to impact western society, some students choose to take Classical Civilization instead of Latin.

Their timetable options are completed by a variety of creative activities, such as art, design technology, food and textiles, music, computing, drama, and sport.

While choosing their GCSE subjects, all students will be in a good position to select a broad, balanced program of study thanks to the continuous range of academic and co-curricular offerings in the third form.

Math, English (Language and Literature), two sciences, and one modern foreign language are the basic subjects that are taught in ability sets.

Three new GCSE subjects are selected from the list below: Geography, history, Latin, music, physical education, religious studies, computing, drama, a second modern foreign language, art, classical civilization, and technology (Design Technology or Food Technology). Also, King Edward's Witley welcomed the most motivated scientists to enroll for the Triple Science program, which consists of independent GCSE courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

The GCSE option blocks are designed to accommodate individual preferences, however checks are undertaken to make sure students follow a balanced curriculum and maintain their possibilities for future education and careers. The choice of GCSE subjects is made in collaboration with the student, parents, house staff, and teachers.

All students in the first through fifth grades take a non-exam PSHE course that meets with statutory recommendations for the delivery of sex, health, financial, and citizenship education.

A one-year GCSE program for the Pre-Sixth is available at King Edward's Witley. The Pre-Sixth year at King Edward's Witley is an excellent method to get ready for the difficulties and benefits of a full Sixth Form curriculum. While some clubs operate year-round, others are only active during certain seasons. The majority of events happen on Saturday mornings and after school. Students register for activities on a term-by-term basis. The majority of courses are free, however some may have fees for extra charges to pay specialized materials or outside tuition.

Future Prospects

In order to help students become more self-aware and interested in career prospects, the Careers Programme begins in the First Form by introducing the concept of exploring the world of work. King Edward's Witley discusses longer-term goals with students in the third form, their final year before deciding on their GCSE options. For instance, students learn that certain university courses require minimum English and math scores and that the science mix they choose now will affect their choice of engineering and other science options in the future.
